So, your best friend is a minimalist. What do you buy him or her? You really want to get them something to show how much you care, but what could you possibly buy that doesn't just add unwanted clutter to his or her life? Here are my 5 favorite minimalist gift ideas for giving or receiving. Be sure to read to the end to see my favorite!
5. Flowers
While it may sound a little cliché, flowers really are a nice gift. They are consumable, so they won't clutter up someone's home. They will bring beauty and life into the person's home. It's especially great if you know their favorite flower. After all, not everyone is a fan of roses. Personally, I'm a tulip girl.
4. Food
Food can be a fun one. Try to choose something you know they'll love. This could be anything from chocolate covered strawberries to hot sauce to some fancy coffee. It is another consumable gift that won't create added clutter.
Sentimental gifts can be such special items to receive. Just make sure it isn't too large or bothersome. Perhaps you can design a special piece of jewelry just for them - a locket with their favorite person's picture, a monogrammed item, or a charm bracelet containing charms of all their favorite things. My husband gave me a set of rings engraved with my daughters' names on them. It is one of my favorite gifts ever!
2. Gift Cards/Money
Gift cards and money are always great. This allows the person to buy whatever they like, even if it's just groceries. If you know they need a break, get them a gift certificate to a nail salon or their favorite coffee shop. You can even give the gift of endless books through Audible. You can click the Audible banner above to give this as a gift to someone you care about.
1. Experience gifts
These are my personal favorite, especially if you choose to do something with the person. Memories trump physical items every single time. Take them out for coffee or to dinner. Go see a concert or show with them. Take a short trip together. Go shopping or to the movies. Do something you will both enjoy. The gift of shared experiences will last a lifetime. What better way to spend your money?
As the old adage goes, it's the thought that counts. So, don't worry too much. A kind person will show appreciation for any thoughtful gift. But if you want to be more mindful of those who are trying to simplify, you might consider one of these ideas. Have a wonderful day!
As always, thanks for reading!
