3 Easy Ways to Reduce TV Spending

As media becomes more accessible through the use of smartphones and apps, it's no wonder your DIRECTV and Dish Network Satellite bills continue to increase every few months. These companies are learning how quick the industry can change and are scrambling to stay afloat. It also provides the not so suttle reminder that we need to be financially prepared for changes in life. If you're tired of paying for hundreds of channels you have no interest in watching, keep reading for three easy ways to reduce your spending on television programming.

  1. Switch to Streaming

Ditch your cable and/or satellite provider. You shouldn't have to set an alarm to watch your favorite show. It's 2021! You also don't have to waste time setting the DVR in order to have something available to watch later. You should be able to watch what you want when you want. In our busy lives, our free time is often limited. Switching to streaming services will provide you with the freedom to enjoy the content you want at the time you have available. My personal streaming favorites include Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney Plus. If you still want live TV programming, Sling is my personal favorite. I can watch the news and the Hallmark channels, which is all I really care about seeing anyway. Click the blue box below to get a FREE trial of Amazon Prime, including Prime Video!

2. Utilize Free Apps

Even if money is super tight, you don't have to watch DVDs from the early 2000s unless of course, you really want to. There are many free apps that still provide great content for you to watch. Three of my favorites are listed below. You can click on a picture to visit the company's website.

3. Track your Subscriptions

As with anything that costs money, tracking is key. There's a funny meme that basically says $2+7+3+1=$249 at Target. While it is humorous, it provides a valid point. Even the cheapest items can add up quickly if you purchase more than a few. Likewise, subscribing to too many streaming services at once will increase your entertainment spending. The cost may even surpass that of your previous cable or satellite provider. That's the opposite of reducing your entertainment spending.

Budgeting can be tough, especially when it comes to items you enjoy. If you need a little accountability, click on the link below to get my FREE PRINTABLE BUDGET WORKSHEETS. There are a couple of different versions, so you can choose what you like best. You can print them out and write on them, or you can edit them directly in the FREE CANVA APP.

Please comment below and let me know your favorite free or paid streaming apps. I would love to add more to the list. Thanks so much for reading and sharing my content! I am so very grateful for every page view.
